Bak Mei's style range is very short and its strikes are explosive and fast. It is heavily influenced by Hung-gar elements. It takes the fury of the tiger style, and the percision of the leopard style, along with various other elements from the snake, crane and dragon styles. Dim Mak's style range is short to medium and its strikes are precise and directed at pressure points. Dim mak (also called Death Touch or Touch of Death) center entirely around the idea that the body is covered with pressure points and energy meridians. The art consists of various techniques that target those pressure points and energy meridians to cause varous effects ranging from incapacitation, immediate death or delayed death to an opponent. Less publised is the idea of using these same pressure points and energy.....

The Drunken style is an agile and loose appearing style. However, despite some of the akward positions of the drunken style, all movements if done properly should contain alot of power. Drunken practitioners need to be able to fall and recover without injury. The syle requires a strong foundation, with good footwork, and alot of practice to be able to successfully use the techniques in a real life altercation. Eagle Claw is a short range and trapping based style. It focuses primarily on grabs, takedowns, locks, trapping, and various other gripping techniques. These techniques are designed for trapping and siezing your opponent then destroying them with pressure point strikes, locks, or takedowns. However, unlike the original Eagle Claw system, most more modern systems have incorporated leg kicks and leg attacks.

Hung Gar(also called Hung Kuen) is a style most popularized for it's five-animal fist consisting of the combination of tiger, crane, leapard, dragon, and snake. Each animal form had its own unique purposes and strengths. By combining techniques new variations and techniques emerged. Hung gar centers around low strong stances, powerful punches, and proper breathing techniques. It incorporates various claw and locking techniques with fast striking to precise targets on the opponent....

Jeet Kune Do is considered by most martial artists as a mixed martial art because it was created fairly recently and it combines several different techniques and ideas from other more traditional styles. Jeet Kune Do does not have a set range but instead applys various other styles depending on the situation. It incorperates kicks, punches, grabs, trapping, wrestling, and various other techniques. Karate is a hard and strong style focused heavily on striking with power. It's range can vary but it is most effective close up where you can deliver devistating strikes. Primary techniques include punching, kicking, elbow strikes, knee strikes, and various open palm striking techniques. At more advanced levels Karate techniques can include knife and spear hands, and palm heel strikes. Beyond that some Karate teachers include grappling and throws, as well as various vital point strikes and devistating joint locks. Fujian White Crane....

 

Long Fist fighting range is naturally long, however that is not to say it doesn't have mid range and short range techniques as well. Long Fist today is most well known for displaying many mesmerizing techniques that often display a great deal of physical strength. Long fist is a common foundational style for other northern styles. It is not uncommon for other northern style kung fu teachers to teach long fist basics before teaching their specific art. Techniques include whirling, running, leaping, acrobatics.....

Modern day Mixed martial arts (MMA) is known by all to be a 1v1 full body contact fighting sport that allows fighters from all types of background to compete against each other. The rules allow striking, grapling, wrestling, and kicking. Various techniques are banned from the sport including but not limited to head butting, groin attacks, and eye jabbing. A fighter attains victory via knockout, submission, technical knockout, doctor stoppage/cut, corner stoppage, retirement, decision, forfeit.....

Mind and strategy combat in itself is not a "discipline" in the same way that other "martial arts" styles are. However, all fighting whether it be 1v1 or on larger scale involving mass numbers of people, require some form or another of mind and stragey combat. Just to name a few, attributes to mind and stragey based combat would be things likes: planning, tactics, timing, using strengths/weaknesses to your advantage, and making use of the environment.....

Northern Mantis traditionally was a longer art however as it evolved it became a style that fights from all ranges. It is a fast and ruthless style centered on destroying your opponent completely. Techniques revolve around snatching your opponent and constant attacking. Every move including blocks are a form of attack in northern mantis. Techniques include striking, kicking, grapling, trapping, snatching, throwing and various weapon techniques. Various lineages exist today and vary in movements and techniques......

Southern Mantis is totally unrelated to Northern Mantis and is more closely related to Southern Dragon Kung Fu and Bak Mei Kung fu. It is a short range style with fast and deadly strikes. It primarily combines various trapping and fast vital point striking techniqes to destroy opponents quickely and with precision. Even though the style focuses primarily on hand techniques it also features a other techniques including grappling, low kicking, snatching and....

Tai Chi today is primarily recognized as a soft and slow internal Chinese martial art. It is most commonly practiced for its proven health benefits. However, Tai Chi is actually an extreamly sophisticated martial art that utilizes the flow of the fight to gain the advantage over an opponent. Tai Chi's range can vary and it focuses heavily on throwing and pushing techniques.  Many fighters of other styles also practice Tai Chi due to its soft nature which is the opposite of most fighting style. Wing Chun is primarily a short range and fast fighting style. It mainly uses both hand striking and grappling to subdue its targets. It does include some fast low kicks but it relates to other short range styles such as Bak Mei and Southern Mantis in the sense that it focuses heavily on balance, and well rooted stances.
